NABB Special Events Presents

“Boston’s Oldest Buildings and Where To Find  Them“

Our next virtual presentation featuring Joe Bagley, City of Boston Archeologist, will be Tuesday, May 18th at 7:00.

We will join Joe as he reveals the oldest surviving buildings in Boston in his new book “Boston’s Oldest Buildings and Where To Find Them,” the first book to do so. This book and presentation will appeal to non-architects and those new to historic preservation. The buildings span multiple uses from homes to churches and warehouses and restaurants.  We will hear new research and see his digital re-creations of some of your old favorites and perhaps find out about a few new discoveries hiding in plain sight. This presentation will celebrate the efforts and the stories of how these buildings have survived to the present.

There is no charge for this event, but you must register by the cutoff date of Monday, May 17th  If you would like to attend,  please RSVP at specialevents@nabbonline.org.

We hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be an intriguing event.

Boston in Transit

Thursday, February 3, 7 pm – on Zoom

Please join us on Thursday, February 3rd at 7 pm, as transit historian and local author Steven Beaucher discusses his recent book, Boston in Transit. He will be focusing on topics of interest to us in the Back Bay.

Boston in Transit tells the story of Boston’s development and growth through the lens of public transportation, starting with a simple ferry carrying English colonists through the arrival of steam trains and fleets of electric streetcars and buses, to the creation and evolution of the MBTA. Steven will lead us through highlights of public transit in Boston from 1630 through the present day.

In addition to being an author and transit historian, Steven is also a map expert and the proprietor of WardMaps on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge.

This is a free presentation, but please email specialevents@nabbonline.org to register by the cutoff date of Tuesday, February 1st. A Zoom link for the presentation will be emailed to you before the presentation on February 3rd.

We are looking forward to seeing you then.
