Mission Statement
The Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay (NABB) was established in 1955 at a time when the Back Bay was in decline. The founding members sought to halt the deterioration of the neighborhood, maintain its architectural beauty, and further its historic residential character.
Today, this purpose still guides NABB as it seeks to preserve and enhance the quality of life in the Back Bay. Building on the active involvement of its volunteer members, it acts as a visible, authoritative advocate on issues that affect the Back Bay, promotes a sense of community among those living in the neighborhood, fosters civic engagement, protects open and green spaces, and – through its links with the City government — contributes to the effective delivery of crime prevention, trash collection, park maintenance, and other city services. In all these activities, NABB facilitates a timely, relevant flow of information to its members.
Adopted by the Board of Directors on June 20, 2012.
